Blizzard has announced an online documentary series tracking the
creation of World of
Warcraft-inspired motorcycles.
The series follows custom bike designer Paul Jr as he, two teams
of experts and members of the WoW development team create
choppers themed around the two Warcraft factions, the
Horde and the Alliance.
Azeroth
Choppers (for thus it is named) takes the form of a
competitive reality show, with the winner being decided by a fan
vote. The victorious bike will then be translated into WoW
as an in-game mount.
The Alliance crew is being headed up by chief storyteller at
Blizzard, Chris Metzen, while the Horde team will fall under the
leadership of art director Sam Didier. Looking at the team lineups
we expect the Horde bike to look the most impressive but for the
Alliance cycle to have the edge when it comes to backstory and
lore. The show has echoes of an old Blizzard April Fool, which promised players the ability to pimp their mounts. Although Azeroth Choppers probably has more in the way of wheels and welding, and less in the way of nitro boosters stuck to the flanks of sabers.
