Mercedes-Benz SL400 Launches Overseas

2014 Mercedes-Benz SL400The entry-level SL-Class in the U.S. is the V-8-powered SL550, but overseas Mercedes-Benz offers a six-cylinder model, the SL350, which is powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 and even comes with eco-friendly Blue Efficiency trim in certain markets.

The SL350 is now being replaced by a new SL400, and this one gets a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine good for 333 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque.

In the SL400, the engine delivers 27 more horses and 81 more lb-ft than the naturally aspirated V-6 it replaces. And it’s more efficient, too. Mercedes says the SL400 is good for 0-62 mph acceleration in a brief 5.2 seconds, and gas mileage for the European combined cycle is quoted at 32.2 mpg.
